Registering or transferring one domain is free, and additional domains cost $14.95 per domain per year. If you need a SSL Secure Certificate for your Ecommerce site, it is available for a fee. Contact Globat for details. We were a little disappointed that Globat does not offer a dedicated IP address, even at an additional charge.

Globat has domain search, registration, and transfer available. You can also have parked domains, subdomains, addon domains, and domain privacy for free. Globat does not search for or register/transfer international domains.

Ecommerce Hosting:  

With Ecommerce hosting, you need 4 critical components: a method of protecting customer data, the ability to password protect directories, a way to process customers' credit card, Paypal, or Google Checkout info, and a shopping cart.

Every good host provides these services, though some cost extra.

Protecting customer data is obviously a huge issue, and to do so you need a SSL Secure Certificate, which Globat provides for an additional fee.

.htaccess enables you to password protect directories you don't want the world to access. Globat provides a nice tutorial on setting it up, so you don't need to be a system administrator or programmer to get advanced functionality.

Programming / Multimedia:  

Globat servers support CGI, Perl, PHP, Python, MySQL, and Frontpage extensions. Globat does not allow Server Side Includes (SSI), nor do their servers support Ruby on Rails (RoR).

Multimedia options include support for Flash/Shockwave, Quicktime video streaming, and Real Audio/Video streaming. Other formats are not supported.
