Jumpline Hosting is unique among hosts because this service uses a VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) approach instead of a virtual hosting environment. The difference between the two-Jumpline's VDS hosting allows each website to operate independently from all other websites on the same physical machine, while with virtual hosting (the most common method) all websites share all the resources of the server. Because Jumpline provides your site with its own dedicated, enclosed environment, you have more control as an administrator and more security because your website is not sharing a mail server or file directory with other sites. Compromised security on another site will have no affect on your own. If control issues are important to you, Jumpline may be the host you'd be most comfortable with. However, since most websites do not need this much control capability, the extra power is evident in the higher price charged and fewer services rendered by Jumpline. Jumpline Hosting does not offer 24/7 phone technical support and Jumpline's other services pale in comparison to those offered by our higher ranked products.

Feature Set:  

With Jumpline's J1-VDS Plan, $10.95 a month, prepaid yearly, you receive 1,000 MB of disk storage, 75 email addresses and 10 gigabytes of data transfer per month, but no ecommerce or database services are available with this plan. The J1-VDS Plan doesn't offer nearly as much bandwidth or storage as the starting plan for our number one ranked option, Globat, but additional bandwidth can be purchased. The benefit of using Jumpline would be the VDS environment.

Jumpline J1-VDS supports Mod PHP, Perl, Python. Because Jumpline uses Virtual Dedicated Servers, they offer you your own web server, an independent file structure, your own mail server and multi-layered security.

Customer Service:  

Jumpline Hosting offers a basic selection of support options. The company does not publish an email address, but they do offer an online Customer Manager Service where you can communicate with technicians using support tickets (a method to index your past questions and resolutions in case of reoccurrence). To use this service, you must log in then complete an online form describing your problem. Jumpline also offers a simple message center for general inquiries that does not require log in. Jumpline does not offer live chat or 24/7 telephone support. Telephone support hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. EST. Generous customer and technical support are critical to a hosting company, and we had a difficult time communicating with Jumpline when it was convenient for us. Although the support staff members at Jumpline are knowledgeable and polite, this host may not be the best choice for those who require customer service accessibility and convenience.

Control Panel:  

Jumpline utilizes the Sphera control panel-the tool needed to manage and update your website. Sphera is easy to navigate and operate. The main functions on the panel include: site details, email and ftp management, site management, a troubleshooting application (ApacheErrors) and website traffic reporting tool (Webalizer).

There are a few reasons that you may want to go with Jumpline. If you want the security and control benefits of a VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) solution, then this is the host for you. Also, if you opt to stay with Jumpline and grow into their larger plans, you can host multiple websites on one account provided they all fit within your data limits.
